Mason
J. Metcalf built the Stencil Shop in
1849 and used his shop for making a
variety of stencils. The date that the
Stencil Shop was plastered, (1852), is
engraved on one of its walls. The
Stencil Shop is believed to be the sole
surviving example in New England of a
19th century Stencil Shop.
